Pension Cello

Just two hours from the stress of Tokyo, another world is waiting. Here at Pension Cello, you can breathe the fresh air, drink the clear mountain spring water, see birds and squirrels, and enjoy good home-cooking in a relaxed atmosphere.

The Pension is in a quiet woodland, just 5 minutes drive from Lake Yamanaka-ko, and the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. There are footpaths and walks nearby, with wonderful views of Mt. Fuji.

The small hotel has a simple but stylish interior, accented with plants, wood and Mrs. Horiguchi's hand-made patchworks.

Many people return again and again to enjoy the freshly-baked bread, home-made miso, and honest cooking. Pension Cello is especially popular with music-lovers, who enjoy playing in the hotel's own concert-hall among the trees.

What is a "Pension" ?

In Japan, there are about 3,000 "Pensions". A Pension is similar to a B&B in U.K., however, some of them are almost hotels except for number of guest rooms.
Basically a Pension offers a minimum of services to the guests. For example, many Pensions usually don't supply any amenity goods such as towels, shaver, bathrobe etc.

We supply only a small towel.

Also, the Pension facilities are simpler than many hotels.

However, Many Pensions are proud of their personal service. Probably 99 % of Pensions are managed by families.

Many visitors feel the staff are their friends, and they regard the Pension as their own country retreat.

We can not speak English so well, but we will welcome you as much as we can.
